Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development M. Maheedhar Reddy on Tuesday made it clear that municipal elections will be held by September this year.
Maheedhar Reddy said that the government could not conduct municipal elections on time due to instability and special circumstances in the State. Stating that the government was ready to hold civic polls on the basis of 2011 Census, he said the government would approach the court seeking green signal for conduct of elections.
Participating in the State-level workshop for the Municipal Administration and Urban Development officials in the Marri Channa Reddy Human Resources Development Institute in Jubilee Hills, the minister said the government was giving industry-related training to unemployed youth to enable them to secure gainful employment. He also appealed to the officials to ensure that every program taken up by the government was transparent and closer to facts. He also discussed about the Rajiv Kiranalu program with the officials.
Appealing to industrial managements to compulsorily pay to the youth as per Minimum Wages Act, Maheedhar Reddy warned that severe action would be taken against the erring managements if they flouted rules. (NSS)
