Mumtaz Khan gets slaps and blows for disrupting jashn-e-Milad preparations

Hyderabad, February 12: Attempt to politicise Milad un Nabi celebrations proved dear to Yakutpura MLA Mumtaz Khan when youth of his own constituency beat him as he tried to disrupt the decoration activities carried on by the youth on the occasion of Milad un Nabi.

On Friday night when local youth were decorating the locality with electric bulbs in connection with Milad un Nabi celebration police stopped them from doing so. The local youth informed MBT leader Mr. Majeed Ullah Khan Farhat on the undue intervening of police. It is said that Mr. Farhat Khan talked to police inspector Bhawani nagar Mr. Subbayya. He was told that if a responsible person takes the responsibility then police would have no objection.

Getting the permission of police youth resumed the decoration.

Sources said that MLA Mumtaz Khan reached there shortly and questioned the youth whether they want to create violence in the city? Youth became sentimental on this remark and snapped ‘two years ago when elections were drawing near, then you (Majlis) persuaded the Muslims to celebrate Milad un Nabi on grand level and why you are opposing it now?’

The MLA could not tolerate Youth’s quick-witted remark and he resorted to abusive and indecent language and slapped a youth. When Hani bin Mubarak who was present there tried to intervene Mumtaz Khan gave a blow to him also.

MLA’s aggression sparked ire among local youth and they beat him.

It has been discussed in the old city of Hyderabad from the past few days that it was Majlis which proposed to celebrate Milad un Nabi with fervour in 2009 ahead of elections and had funded for the same but now Majlis’ cold attitude towards Milad un Nabi has given the expression that closeness to the government has distanced its leaders from Prophet’s (PBUH) love.
