Mumbai: Two illegal Bangladeshi immigrants awarded 1 year of rigorous Punishment

Thane: One year of rigorous imprisonment was awarded to two Bangladeshi women for staying illegally without relevant documents in the country by Thane Court.

Assistant Sessions Judge H B Shelke convicted Mumtaz Rasul Shaikh (45) and Munira Akhtar Husein (30), illegal immigrants from Bangladesh’s Nodaile district under relevant sections of Passport Rules 1950, PTI reports.

The judge along with awarding the convicts one year of rigorous punishment also slapped the two women with a fine of Rs.5000 each on 28 March.

The two women were working as labourers and resided in slum colonies. They were nabbed from Mira Road on 15 July 2017 by the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell told Additional Public Prosecutor Ujjwala Moholkar.

After hearing arguments, the Judge convicted the two women and sentenced them to one-year rigorous imprisonment on March 28.
