Mumbai, August 26: A city road was today named after 26/11 hero Tukaram Omble, who played a key role in capturing alive Ajmal Kasab, part of the ten-member terror squad that attacked the metropolis last November.
Constable Omble fell to the bullets from Kasab’s AK-47 during an encounter at Girgaum Chowpatty on that fateful night but did not allow the Pakistani national to escape.
Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray and senior BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Gopinath Munde named the road, near the Bandra Worli Sea Link, in the honour of Omble.
A statue of the martyr has also been installed at a `chowk’ near the road in South Mumbai.
