Mumbai police hunt for two terrorists

Mumbai, September 14: The Mumbai police are on the lookout for two terrorists who have reportedly sneaked into India and entered the city to launch a terror attack.

The two suspicious looking persons who were ealier seen in Lalbagh area in Mumbai were found out not be terrorists. According to the police the two terrorists – Kalimuddin Khan and Hafeez Sharif – are affiliated to the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI). “As of now, we only have information that they are foreign nationals,” said joint commissioner of police (crime) Himanshu Roy.While Roy and additional commissioner of police Deven Bharti refused to confirm whether the terrorists were from Pakistan, sources, identified Khan as Pakistani and Sharif as Bangladeshi.

Several police teams were attempting to find the suspects, who could be at a hotel, lodge or rented premise in the city. Senior officials have been asked to carry out combing operations in hotels and lodges.
Heavy police security has been deployed all over the city .

On September 9,2010 the coastal areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra had been put on high alert following intelligence inputs that Pakistan-based terrorists may adopt sea route to strike during the festival season.

Following the advisory, the coast guards have been asked to remain on high alert. Rapid Action Force and CRPF have also been deployed to coastal areas of country.
According to the IB inputs, the Pakistan-based militant outfit HuJI has prepared 30 fidayeen teams (Suicide attack team), comprising 8-9 terrorists in each group to target the major cities of Gujarat and Maharashtra. IB input claims that each group has woman fidayeen.
