Mumbai: Bollywood actress Koena Mitra famous for her ‘O Saki’ song from ‘Musafir’ movie has been repeatedly convicted in a cheque bouncing case and sentenced for six months jail.
According to claims, the complaint was filed by model Poonam Sethi who filed the complaint in 2013 after one of the debt repayment cheque’s bounced, AA reports.
The sentence was pronounced by a metropolitan magistrate’s court earlier in July, which the Actress would soon challenge.
As per the case details, Koena had borrowed Rs 22 lakh from Poonam Sethi and during one of the repayments of the debt, Poonam received a cheque of Rs 3 lakh from the actress which according to the complainant was not accepted by the bank.
After the check bounced Poonam sent a legal notice to Koena Mitra on July 19, 2013 yet the actress was unable to pay the required due amount. Despite receiving the notice, Koena was unable to pay to the required amount after which Poonam filed a court complaint on October 10, 2013.
During the court hearing, Koena claimed that her cheques had been stolen and that the complainant did not have enough resources to lend that big amount.
Meanwhile, Koena speaking to Mumbai Mirror said: “The case is totally false and I have been framed in the matter.”
