Mumbai: Municipal corporation’s negligence claims one life

Mumbai: Failing to take action by a municipal body in Mumbai lead to death of a woman in Chembur after a coconut tree fell on her.

According to the sources, the neighbours of the deceased woman Kanchan Nath, claim they have filed numerous complaints about the falling branches in the area but the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation did not take any action which led tragedy killing Kanchan.

However, the BMC officials said they have conducted inspections of the area and did not find the need to prune the trees.

Avinash Pol one of the residents is reported to file an application along fee to take action for the inconvenience caused by the trees on 17 February, but the authorities had told the tree was still healthy.

Asha Marathe, local councilor demanded an investigation of the same.
