Mumbai: In a bizarre incident a 26-year-old labourer from Mumbai raped a minor girl and uploaded the video of the act on Facebook.
The accused identified as Mailk knew the 17-year-old girl and asked her to accompany him on a trip when the girl agreed he took her to Badlapur forest and raped her.
The police arrested Malik and booked a case under Section 376 (punishment for rape) and 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He was remanded in police custody.
A police officer from Hill line police station said that they are examining his social media accounts and will ask cyber crime cell officials to help us prevent the video from being circulated.
He added. “Malik confessed to the crime. He and the girl underwent medical tests. We are awaiting the reports.”
This is not the first incident of a crime being recorded and shared widely on social media.
