Mumbai gangrape: Kajol wants stricter laws against crime

Expressing shock and outrage over the gangrape of a 23-year-old photojournalist in the city last week, Bollywood actress Kajol today demanded stricter laws and harsh punishment to the perpetrators of such crimes.

The photojournalist working with an English magazine, who was on an assignment with her male colleague, was allegedly gang raped by five men in Parel area in central Mumbai last Thursday.

“I think it is sick! It’s horrible! There are no words to describe what that woman went through… It is no less than a murder. We should do something about this. But more than us, I feel the government should make stricter laws,” Kajol said here.

“You can’t change the thinking of people, but you can create fear in their minds about the punishment. You can change the law and make it something to be scared of. If you are not doing it, then you are giving it up and not treating it up with respect and dignity that it deserves,” the actress added.
