Mumbai: Very few instances we hear or see joyrides turning into one’s nightmares. A six-year-old had she known her fall from horse riding would kill her she would have never dared to ride it in the first place.
A recent heart-wrenching incident is reported from Kala Ghoda which happened on Sunday evening turned a joyride into a catastrophic event for a family of six-year-old Janhvi Sharma whose father is a seniors executive with a private firm.
A resident of Girgaum Janhvi Sharma fell off from a horse near the Cooperage Garden and started bleeding from her head and nose.
She was with her parents, older sister and a few other relatives when the incident occurred.
According to the police, she was rushed to Bombay hospital after she fell off the horse.
The Hospital authorities informed the Police around 7 pm.
Manoj Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone 1), said that a case of culpable homicide (section 304 of the Indian Penal Code) against the horse rider Soham Jaiswal, 30, has been lodged and he has been arrested.
He added, “Horse carriages are banned at Nariman Point and Marine Drive, but not near Cooperage garden”.
According to the police, Jaiswal was operating alone and not with any organization.
Jahnvi was initially taken to Bombay Hospital and was later shifted to St George Hospital for post-mortem.
One of Janhvi’s neighbours said: “We were informed by her family about the incident. We still do not know what happened, but Janhvi was riding the horse when she fell off and started bleeding through her nose and head. She was rushed to Bombay hospital, where she was declared brain dead by the doctors.”
