Mumbai, September 13: Major airports in the country have been put on high alert on the third anniversary of the September 13, 2008 blasts, sources told.
Security has been enhanced at the Mumbai Airport and Delhi airports. Delhi was on high alert following the recent blast outside the high court. Security has been further tightened in Delhi after email threatening malls in the city. Police have strengthened security at shopping malls by deploying more personnel and conducting extensive searches.
Home Minister P Chidambaram met Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, members of his cabinet and top police officers of the state on Monday evening to review security in the state, sources said.
State home minister RR Patil and additional chief secretary (home) UC Sarangi were also present.
