Multi-thousand crore Irrigation Scam dropped against Ajit Pawar

Mumbai: Days after BJP leader Fadnavis joined hands with NCP leader Ajit Pawar for government formation in Maharashtra, multi-thousand crore irrigation scam has been dropped against Ajit.

Ajit Pawar alleged in the irrigation scam currently before the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court was given clean chit, IndianExpress reports.

The then Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) DGP Sanjay Barve had said in an affidavit in November 2018 that Ajit Pawar had intervened in the process of award of contracts for irrigation projects.

He ensured that advance (MA) was given to contractors by tweaking rules, and also by approving irregular escalations of project costs.

The irrigation scam dates back to the time Ajit Pawar was the irrigation minister of Maharashtra during the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party government.

Ditching his uncle Sharad Pawar and joining hands with BJP, Ajit took an oath as deputy chief minister under CM Devendra Fadnavis, a development that stunned the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress.
