She had earlier as well refused to get in line with SP on several other issues. With Akhilesh Yadav’s opposing the bill, her stand was to support it.

Aparna is the wife of Mulayam’s younger son, Prateek Yadav.

In some earlier instances; she had met UP Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi within a week after BJP had come to power in the state.

She had also attended an Iftaar party with Union home minister Rajnath Singh in Lucknow last year. Moreover, Aparna had made SP uneasy, when she posted a selfie with PM Modi.
