Mukherjee extends greetings to Uzbekistan on eve of its Independence Day

New Delhi, Aug.31 : President Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of Uzbekistan on the eve of their 24th Anniversary of Independence Day, which will be observed on Tuesday.

In a message to President Islam Karimov, President Mukherjee said, “On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, it is my privilege to extend to you and to the people of Uzbekistan hearty congratulations and felicitations on the occasion of the 24th Anniversary of your Independence Day.

Under your able and visionary leadership, Uzbekistan has achieved remarkable economic growth and development since its Independence. Uzbekistan has been playing a significant role in promoting regional security and stability.

The India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership continues to grow based on the mutually beneficial and multifaceted relations between our two countries which are bound by close historical and cultural linkages.

In this context, the recent visit of Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi to the Republic of Uzbekistan has given a new impetus to our strategic partnership and our bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
