New Delhi, January 07: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today briefed top Congress leadership about the measures being taken by the government to contain price rise and inflation.
The issue came up during the Congress Core Group meeting chaired by party chief Sonia Gandhi with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on her side.
The meeting also discussed in detail the issue of separate state for Telangana.
Sources said that Congress leadership will first hold a meeting of its party MPs over the issue after which the government will hold another meeting with all stakeholders.
The meeting among others were attended by Home Minister P Chidambaram and Gandhi’s Political Secretary Ahmed Patel.
Congress appears to be in a fix over the issue of a separate Telangana with party leaders in Andhra Pradesh sharply divided in their opinions on regional lines.
