Marketing and Warehousing minister Sri M Mukesh Goud has appealed Ganesh Utsav Samithi and the public to immerse the Ganesh idols in local kuntas and ponds so as to help preservation of city lakes. He expressed satisfaction that this time majority of the people are using earthen made idols with natural paints and use of Plaster of Paris is avoided.
Speaking to Congress workers he said the idols made of PoP not only pose environmental concerns, but also serious health hazards in the long run.
On the occasion he appealed to police, R& B, power and water supply departments to make possible arrangements for peaceful conduct of the festival.
