Commercial Taxes and Marketing Minister Mukhesh Goud has demanded the State Government to allot the 608 houses being constructed under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme at Phool Bagh in Basheer Bagh area to local people only.
He visited the houses constructing in Phool Bagh along with the Hyderabad district collector Kasim Rizwi, GHMC Commissioner Krishna Babu here on Friday. He cleared the doubts raised by several beneficiaries on the spot. They told the Minister that some people who were staying as tenants here were claiming as local people, but the local people were only 750. They also lodged a complaint with the Minister that the officials were rejecting the DDs saying that their names were not in the list and the same officials were issuing possession certificates to the ineligible persons. They urged the Minister to cancel them immediately and said that some have got the houses with the recommendations of public representatives.
The beneficiaries have also requested the Minister to complete the houses quickly as they were staying in rented houses paying heavy rent for the last two and half years. The Minister discussed with the officials on the spot and directed the officials not to succumb to the recommendations of the public representatives in allotting the houses to ineligible candidates. The Minister also advised the beneficiaries to pay the 10 percent share immediately. He said that construction will be completed within two months and the allotment process would be completed simultaneously. He also directed the district collector to identify the local people and prepare a list as early as possible.
Speaking on this occasion, Krishna Babu said that only 51 beneficiaries have paid 10 percent share to the Government and the remaining beneficiaries have to pay the amount immediately to complete the construction of houses, as the construction expenditure increased heavily.
Rizwi said that he will prepare a report shortly and it will be handed over to the GHMC. He made it clear that he will not bow to the pressure of the public representatives.
Corporator Madhu, Hyderabad RDO Harish, several GHMC officials, Housing PD, and others participated in the program. (NSS)
