Cairo, February 01: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Egypt’s embattled President Hosni Mubarak to heed the cry of people as they continue to ask for his ouster after a 30-year rule.
“Hear the cry of the people and their extremely humane demands… Meet the people’s desire for change without hesitation,” said the premier.
Erdogan sent “very sincere advice, a very sincere warning” as thousands of protesters have gathered in central Cairo for the eighth day of unprecedented protests against the Mubarak regime.
Meanwhile, Turkey sent more planes to bring back its nationals stranded in troubled Egypt, local media reported Tuesday.
Seven passenger jets have carried 1,969 Turkish citizens to Turkey from Egypt, the Anatolia news agency reported the Turkish Prime Ministry Emergency and Crisis Management Authority as saying in a statement.
Ankara also sent five charter planes to Cairo and Alexandria on Sunday to bring back nearly 1,200 Turkish nationals stranded in the crisis-hit country.
Meanwhile, in Egypt, protesters have flooded Cairo’s Tahrir Square, and begun marching toward the Presidential palace while the army has called people’s demonstrations ‘legitimate,’ and pledged not to confront their peaceful protests.
