According to the research conducted by captain Pandu Ranga Reddy, a Hyderabadi girl, Ms. Surayya Tayyabji designed the national flag. It was accepted by the Constituent Assembly on 22nd July 1947. It is very regrettable that in all the text books the name of P.Venkayya is given as the person who designed the National flag. Famous National newspapers, authors and historians did not mention Mr. Venkayya’s name. It can be said with confidence that Ms. Surayya Tayyabji got Ashok Chakra fixed in the center of the flag.
Mr. Reddy told that he would present his research paper in Indian History Congress to be held in Kuttak from 28th to 30th December 2013. He further demanded the postal Department to issue a commemorative stamp to honour Ms. Surayya Tayyabji.
