MS Dhoni will help youngsters in Anil Kumble’s absence: Virat Kohli’s childhood coach

New Delhi: Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma on Friday said the Indian cricket team won’t be affected by the absence of Anil Kumble during the first one-day international against the West Indies being played in Port Spain today.

He said that the presence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni will help the youngsters in overcoming the same.

“A coach is always missed to chalk out strategies, but this group has tremendous experience. In the past as well, we did not have a coach, rather a director was appointed to watch over the team. Now, we have some mature players and Dhoni is also there to help them, even Virat is also there,” Sharma told ANI.

Sharma further said, “There might be some differences (between Kohli and Kumble) and it is better if keep the talks that happen in dressing room there itself.”

Kumble resigned from the post of head coach after India suffered an 180-run defeat against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final. General Manager (Cricket Operations) MV Sridhar has now been appointed to oversee the Indian team during their tour of the West Indies.
