Finishing in style with a four over mid-off, former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India to a 6-wicket victory in the first match of the ongoing 5-match ODI series against Australia in Hyderabad on Saturday.
India defeated Australia by 6 wickets with 10 balls remaining in the match, thanks to Dhoni’s unbeaten 59 off 72 balls and Kedar Jadhav’s unbeaten 81 off 87 deliveries and India now lead the series 1-0.
MS Dhoni crosses 13,000 runs mark in 412 List A matches with the help of his 72-ball 59 in the first ODI. He has amassed 13,054. He became only the fourth Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid to complete 13,000 runs in List A cricket.
Dhoni smashed six boundaries and a six in India’s victory in Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The only six that he hit helped him become India’s highest six-hitter in One-day internationals.
Apart from this, the 141-run partnership between Dhoni and Jadhav is the second highest fifth-wicket stand by India against Australia at home. This was also the second best partnership for any wicket in Hyderabad.
