MS Aiyar again calls Modi a ‘scorpion’ & ‘snake’

A day after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a ‘night watchman’, the Congress, hitting back in the same coin, again called him a ‘scorpion’ today.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar called Mr Modi ”a scorpion and a snake”.

Mr Aiyar’s comment came a day after Mr Modi, addressing the BJP national executive here, equated the Congress with termite. He also described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a ”night watchman”.

Mr Aiyar also called the BJP ”the killer of Muslims”. He charged the party with trying to destroy unity and integrity of the country.

AICC spokesperson Rashid Alvi, reacting to Mr Modi’s ‘night watchman’ remarks, told reporters, ”A night watchman will not remain for nine long years.”

Lambasting Mr Modi, senior Congress leader and Union Minister Rajeev Shukla said the indecent language used by Mr Modi did not behove any national leader.

Dismissing any comparisons between Mr Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Mr Shukla said, ”I think Modi is not yet capable of attaining the stature of a national leader. By spending crores belonging to Gujarat for self-propaganda, if someone thinks that he has become a national leader then he is mistaken.”
