C.M. of A.P. Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy met Anthony Committee yesterday in New Delhi and claimed that in the event of bifurcation both the regions would incur losses. The meeting continued for 45 minutes. He apprised the committee about the damages likely to be caused. He told that after the declaration of formation of separate Telangana State, agitation is being continued for the past 21 days in Seema Andhra region and normal life has been paralyzed. He told that bifurcation of the State is not in the interest of both the region. A dam has to be divided into two States. This decision is first of its kind in the history this country. He also claimed that in the event of bifurcation division of water, employment opportunities, Hyderabad as capital and Naxalite issues would crop up. Referring to Naxalite activities in smaller State like Chattisgarh and Jharkhand, he said that in A.P. also the Naxalite would increase their violent activities. He claimed that Hyderabad is not only an economic zone but it is also a medical hub. He claimed that in the event of bifurcation Congress will not get any benefit. He submitted the survey report conducted recently. He reminded that in the past, A.P. played an important role in the formation of UPA-I and UPA-II Govt. He once again opposed the bifurcation of the State and strongly pleaded for keeping the State integrated. He expressed apprehensions that if the State is divided, its resolution would meet defeat in A.P. Assembly.
Mr. Anthony told the C.M. that a decision has already been taken for the formation of separate Telangana State. Before taking this decision extensive consultations have been made. It is not possible at this stage to withdraw this decision. If he has anything to say in this regard he can meet Congress President Ms. Sonia Gandhi. It is expected that Mr. Reddy would meet Ms. Sonia Gandhi today.
