Govt. of A.P. has started searching for a permanent person for appointment as CEO of Wakf Board. It may be noted that A.P. High Court had given orders to State Govt. to appoint a permanent CEO for Wakf Board. A case of Contempt of Court is pending with the High Court for non-compliance of its orders.
It is quite likely that Mr. M.A. Hameed will be appointed as CEO of Wakf Board. He had worked as CEO of Wakf Board earlier also. After relinquishing charge of CEO of Wakf Board Mr. Hameed has been working as Executive Officer of Hajj Committee. Mr. M.A. Gaffar was temporarily appointed as CEO of Wakf Board after Mr. Hameed left but objections were raised on his appointment.
The tenure of office of the present Wakf Board will come to an end next month. It is not likely that the Govt. will extend its tenure as there is no provision in wakf act for this. In such a case, the CEO of Wakf Board will function with full authority to discharge the duties of Wakf Board.
