(Siasat News)Congress MLC, Mr. Farooq Hussain made a representation to Union Health Minister and in charge of A.P. affairs, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad about the need to allocate a sub-plan for the Muslims in the State budget. He told that such a move is necessary for the development and welfare of the Muslims.
Mr. Azad gave an assurance to Mr. Farooq Hussain that this matter would be considered.
Mr. B.Satyanarayana, AICC President, Mr. D. Nagender, Labour Minister & Mr. Farooq Hussain considered various aspects to bring the Muslims closer to Congress Party in a meeting held at Chief Minister’s Camp Office at Begumpet. Mr. Farooq Hussain told that the Muslims played a key role in getting Congress to power and Congress had also fulfilled its election promise by providing 4% reservation to the Muslims. C.M. of A.P. took personal interest and raised the amount to be given to Muslim girls for marriage from Rs.15, 000 to Rs.25, 000. He requested the Govt. to increase the marriage fund, which is only Rs.five crore at present.
He also thanked the C.M. for extending the period of reservations to Muslims for another 10 years.
Mr. Farooq Hussain told that the Congress had announced a sub-plan for S.C’s and S.T’s. In the same way, it should allocate a sub plan for the Muslims also.
Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad told that Congress is the only Party, which works for the welfare of the people rising above the level of caste or sects.
He assured that the issue of a sub-plan for the Muslims would be discussed in the meeting of the Congress Coordination Committee and a decision would be taken soon.
Intervening in the discussions, Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy told that Govt. is bound to develop the status of Minorities and that he is planning for the progress for all the sections of society.
