Mr. Basheeruddin Babu Khan was a principled man- Zahid Ali Khan

Mr. Basheeruddin Babu Khan, former minister of Minorities Welfare was a person who had real concern for the Muslim Community. He was a principled person. He served the Muslim community like saints. These thoughts were expressed by various speakers on the occasion of the condolence meeting of Mr. Basheeruddin Babu Khan organized by Siasat Urdu Daily and Minorities Development Forum at Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall, Siasat Office complex yesterday. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily presided over the condolence meeting.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that Allah (SWT) made him popular and blessed him with a true and honest successor in the personality of Mr. Salman Babu Khan. He told that Mr. Basheeruddin Babu Khan was identified as a true and honest Muslim. He did not hesitate to tell the truth. Before tendering resignation from TDP he had called Mr. Zahid Ali Khan. Other dignitaries were also present at that time in Babu Khan Estate. Mr. Chandrababu Naidu telephoned him and asked whether he could withdraw his resignation. He told Mr. Naidu that Mr. Babu Khan takes a decision after careful consideration and he does not change it. He always used to be worried about the problems of the Muslim. On hearing the woes of innocent Muslims after Makka Masjid Bomb blast, he fainted and he was to be rushed to hospital. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan advised Mr. Salman Babu Khan that the best tribute to his father would be to launch moral education course in the schools he established because these days our children are going astray from morals and religion.

Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha, former M.P. of Rajya Sabha told that Mr. Babu Khan had deep insight on the problems of Muslims. He never resorted to compromises. He was staunch disciplinarian. If he wanted he could have toured the entire country after tendering his resignation from TDP to gain popularity but he did not do so. He was true sympathizer of Muslim community. He did not hesitate to sacrifice his ministerial berth for the sake of principles.

Padmashree Mujtaba Husain told that Mr. Babu Khan kept himself away from emotional politics because by being emotional issues become more complicated. In Delhi also he was identified as a sympathizer of the Muslim community and an intellectual who used to present the issues of Muslim community in a very concrete manner.

Mr. Mahmood Saleh told that the credit of granting exemption of playground for getting recognition for schools goes to Mr. Babu Khan. He also waived the condition of getting transfer certificates of the students attested by Dy. DEO. Mr. Babu Khan used to stress the need for offering moral education in English medium school.

Major Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin Quadri (Help Hyderabad) told that Mr. Babu Khan had a versatile personality. He was an organization and a movement in himself. He was very sensitive to the cause of Muslim community. The credit of the establishment of three ITIs and eight residential Urdu medium schools goes to him. He was not a politician. He did not know how to tell lies.

Mr. Arif Mirza told that Mr. Basheeruddin Babu Khan has cast a very deep impression on our lives. When Mr. NT Rama Rao offered him assembly ticket, he chose Bodhan Assembly constituency in Nizamabad district. In the first election he won the seat by a majority of 2000 votes but in the next election he won the seat by 20000 votes which show that he had become very popular in the public. He tendered his resignation, when TDP decided to support NDA. At that time he was holding 9 portfolios. He did not exploit his position for his personal benefit. Mr. Abu Khalid also addressed the gathering. Mr. Abid Siddiqui, President of MDF conducted the meeting and proposed vote of thanks. Mr. S.K. Afzaluddin, former member Urdu Academy was also present in the meeting.
