My MPs ready to quit for SCS to AP: Jagan

YSRCP president and Leader of the Opposition in AP Assembly Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday declared that his party MPs are ready to resign from their posts to exert pressure on the Centre to grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing youth at Yuvabheri in Kurnool, YS Jagan said YSRCP will not rest until the special category status was achieved because it is the only way the youths can get jobs and the State can achieve industrial growth. “We will exert maximum pressure on the Centre in the coming winter session of Parliament and the budget session. If the Centre won’t grant special status even then, our MPs will resign as a last resort,” he said.

Explaining the benefits of the status, YS Jagan said it was shameful that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was not able to understand those benefits. “Chandrababu Naidu himself demanded special status before the elections, but now he is making all efforts to stop special status, only for his own personal and political benefits compromising the interests of the state and people,” YS Jagan lambasted the CM and added that major loss come to youths and students as no industrial growth is possible without special status and without industrial growth there won’t be jobs.

When the impossible task of achieving Telangana became a reality, why not special status which was promised by the Centre in the Reorganization Act is not possible?  We will make it a reality at any cost even by tendering resignations to Lok Sabha membership. “If special status is not given even after our MPs resignations, we will again go to Parliament with the same demand and we will make it an election issue in 2019,” he said and called upon youths and students to join hands with him in his fight for special status.

MP Butta Renuka, who participated in the meet offered to resign from MP post if the party chief so orders for the special status to AP. (NSS)
