Terming the Indian Premier League (IPL) as ‘shameful’, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said that his government would not allow IPL matches to be held in the state.
“IPL khel ke nam par kalank aur bahut sharmnak hai samaj mein (IPL is a stigma and very shameful in the name of sports in the society),” Chouhan told reporters in Indore.
Referring to a series of controversies that have hit the IPL, he said that the iconic player like Sachin Tendulkar should not play in the IPL.
Chouhan also said that cheer leaders would not be allowed in any cricket tournament in the state as “it was very indecent”.
He also demanded CBI probe into allegations of spot fixing and molestation at a hotel in Delhi.
