Bhopal, July 25: The indefinite strike of junior doctors in five government hospitals across Madhya Pradesh entered the sixth day on Saturday paralysing medical services in the state.
Though the state government has expelled over 1000 junior doctors after initiating the process of cancelling their registration on July 21, protesters continued the stir, demanding better health facilities, Rs 12,000 hike in stipend, among other things, according to the norms of Medical Council of India (MCI).
“We are going to continue our strike to the logical end,” Madhya Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (MPJDA) chief co-ordinator Dr Yogesh Paur said.
He said that the strike was in public interest as its aims to improve health services, according to the MCI’s standards, as they are in a bad shape in the state.
Medical services were badly affected on account of the strike and patients have started moving out of the all the five hospitals in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Rewa districts, sources said.
However, parallel Outdoor Patient Department (OPDs) are being run in all the hospitals to ensure that the patients don’t face hardship, Paur said.
Also, state government is making all out efforts to make sure that the patients in all the five hospitals are attended, Madhya Pradesh Director Medical Education Dr VK Saini told reporters.
