MP govt commits to curb cow slaughter: CM

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said the state government is committed to curbing cow slaughter and female foeticide. Addressing a Pratishtha Mahotsav of Jain community at village Ghasoi in Mandsaur district yesterday, the Chief Minister said that a stringent law has been enacted that provides for ensuring strict punishment to those found guilty of cow slaughter directly or indirectly, an official satatement said. Mr Chouhan said a cow sanctuary is being established in 983 acre area in Shajapur district. He said the regime decided not to open new liquor shops, while adding that efforts are also being made to curb female foeticide by firmly implementing the Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act.
