MP Cong leader Aslam Sher Khan takes aim at party higher-ups

Former Olympian and senior Congress leader Aslam Sher Khan here today said that in order to revive Congress in Madhya Pradesh, it is necessary to hand over its reins to workers to manage its affairs. “After creation of Chhattisgarh, the party has continuously weakened in the State and therefore in order to revive it and to prevent it from going Uttar Pradesh, Bihar or West Bengal way, it is absolutely necessary to hand over its reins to workers,” Aslam said addressing a workers convention of the party at Iqbal Maidan. Congress workers from nearly 35 districts have taken part in the meeting to discuss ways to revive the party. He also expressed the need to take its “core” voters comprising dalits, tribals and Muslims into confidence. Aslam said Congress lost ground in the state soon after a separate Chhattisgarh state was carved out. “If Congress failed to prevent BJP from coming back to power for a third time in a row, then here also it will have leadership like Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi”, he added.
