MP CM urges Union Home Minister to clear MP Special Court Bill soon

Bhopal, September 22 (Pervez Bari): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday met the Union Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram and urged him for early clearance to Madhya Pradesh Vishesh Nyayalaya Vidheyak, (Madhya Pradesh Special Court Bill), 2011 pending with Home Ministry.

Mr. Chouhan said that the proposed Bill provides for an effective deterrent against corrupt public servants and expeditious disposal of cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. This bill also provides for confiscation of property acquired through corrupt means and utilization of such property in larger public interests.

Mr. Chouhan said that the Madhya Pradesh Terrorism and Extremist Activities and Organised Crime Control Bill 2010 which seeks to strengthen National unity is pending for approval with the Central Government.

Mr. Chidambaram reportedly assured the Chief Minister of an early clearance of the pending Bills.

Mr. Chouhan said that at present eight districts are included in the integrated action plan to tackle naxalism in the state. He called for including Singrauli also in the plan. Mr. Chouhan urged to increase amount to Rs. 100 crore for modernisation of Police Force. The Central Government has reduced the amount from 100 crore to 50 crore in the last 3 years.
