(Pervez Bari): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that mindset towards girls in society is changing. Society is realising that nature cannot thrive without girls. Chouhan was addressing launch ceremony of Swagatam Laxmi Yojana here on Friday.
The Chief Minister said that girls should essay important role in development of state and country. The state government is working towards economic, social and political empowerment of women. A number of schemes have been implemented to remove discrimination against women. Women have discharged responsibility of saving the existence. Schemes like Ladli Laxmi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana have changed people’s mindset. Swagatam Laxmi Yojana is another scheme in the same direction. Let spirit of respect towards women reach every level through this scheme, he added.
Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Maya Singh said that Swagatam Laxmi Yojana is an important initiative for improving women’s condition. A number of women’s welfare schemes have been chalked out after Women’s Panchayat in year 2006. Now, there are 16 lakh Ladli Laxmis in the state. Male-female ratio has also improved. Principal Secretary Women and Child Development B.R. Naidu also spoke on the occasion. Commissioner Women’s Empowerment Mrs. Kalpana Shrivastava threw light on Swagatam Laxmi Yojana. Ms Pooja Malviya also spoke.
Chief Minister Chouhan released a film, brochure and song focusing on Swagatam Laxmi Yojana and IVRS of Ladli Laxmi Yojana. The film was also shown and the song recited on the occasion. Students of Jawahar Bal Bhavan presented Vande Mataram, dance-drama and Madhya Pradesh Gaan. State Child Rights Protection Commission chairperson Mrs. Usha Chaturvedi, Commissioner Integrated Child Development Scheme Mrs. Neelam Shami Rao and large number of women and girls were present on the occasion.
