Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) : Following the hike in the MLAs development fun earlier this month, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the salary hike of the MLAs from Rs. 71,000 to Rs. 1, 10,000 per month.
The Chief Minister’s salary has gone up from Rs. 1.43 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh per month.
The MLAs who are cabinet ministers’ salaries has increased from Rs. 1.20 lakh to Rs. 1.70 lakh per month, while the salary of the Ministers of State has gone up from Rs. 1.3 lakh to Rs. 1.50 lakh per month.
Earlier this month, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced that the MLA development funds have been raised to Rs two crore from the current Rs 80 lakh, for the overall development of the state.
In a similar attempt, the Telangana Assembly yesterday passed a bill to hike legislator’s salaries and allowances of the state legislators including the Chief Minister, Speaker, deputy Speaker of Assembly, Council of Ministers, chairman and deputy chairman of Legislative Council, Leader of Opposition in Assembly and Council, Government Whips, MLAs and MLCs.
Following the hike in the salaries of the Telangana MLAs and MLCs, legislators in Andhra Pradesh are now demanding a similar increase. (ANI)
