MP Assembly passes Appropriation Bill

Bhopal, March 29: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly today passed the Appropriation Bill of over Rs 60,985 crore by a voice vote for the financial year 2011-12.

With this, the Madhya Pradesh”s budget, which was presented by the Finance Minister, Raghavji on February 24 has got the clearance of the House after a debate.

Replying to the debate, Raghvaji said the passage of the Appropriation Bill of such a huge amount was historical, and added that enormous amount of money had been earmarked in it for development.

The state has scaled newer heights as far as development is concerned in the past seven years. However, there is enormous room for progress further, he said.

Raghavji said there has been a hike of 68 percent in the budgetary allocations to power, 38 per cent to education, and 49 per cent to the health department.

The state government is working on a multi-crore project to separate electricity supply lines to agriculture sector and rural household by 2013, he said.

After implementation of this project, rural households will get power supply round-the-clock and the agriculture sector too will be provided adequate power.

Earlier, acting Leader of the Opposition Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi drew the attention of the House towards the unearthing of irregularities in the implementation of projects and asked the government to ensure that such things don”t ruin development projects.

There is a need to ensure that the money allocated for the uplift of poor reaches them, he said.
