Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Assembly has approved a bill awarding the death penalty for rape or gangrape convicts in case of children below age 12 years.
“Those who rape 12-year-old girls are not humans, they are demons who don’t have the right to live,” Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan stated.
Adding to this, he said that repeated stalking will be a non-bailable offence and those who found guilty will be punished, as per a report by Times Now.
The state cabinet also approved increasing the fine and punishment for rape convicts.
Madhya Pradesh home minister Bhupendra Singh had stated that the move is being taken to control the alarming number of crimes in the state.
A 10-year-old girl was raped multiple times when a 67-year-old woman lured her for a chocolate and let three men rape her. On another occasion, a UPSC aspirant returning from her coaching classes was gang-raped in Bhopal.
