Movement against communal politics needed: Ram Puniyani

An organized movement is needed against promotion of politics based on communalism and religious fundamentalism in the country, said renowned social worker and writer Prof. Ram Puniyani while addressing a seminar held at Urdu Ghar yesterday. He maintained that for the preservation of democratic structure and secular character of the country it is imperative to keep communal minded people away from politics. He rebuffed the Hindu nationalist ideology of Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi and slammed him saying that Modi’s ideology may spread religious hatred in the country. He declared Modi’s development claims as hollow and there is no truth in them.

Ram Puniyani asserted that by strongly opposing the division of the country, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad proved that Indian Muslims prefer to live in India. He termed division of country as the sad chapter of Indian history using which communal elements make baseless allegations against Muslims.

The seminar was arranged by Shaheen Women Resource and Welfare Association.
