United Forum for RTI Campaign has welcomed the proposal of the Chief Information Commission to bring all the political parties in the country under the purview of RTI Act.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, campaign representative Bhupathi Raju Ramakrishnam Raju expressed concern over all political parties scornfully ignoring the commision’s orders. He also expressed his displeasure over the Union government trampling upon the commission’s orders . He said the campaign members would call on the President shortly to request him not to sign ordinances unilaterally and the Commission’s directives should be discussed in Parliament.
Stating that all political parties were getting concessions from the government for running their organisations, he stressed the need for ensuring transparency in the policies of the local bodies’ elections. He also appealed to all political parties to come forward voluntarily to prove their honesty by implementing the commission’s directives.
