Soreness of mouth, increased production of saliva, white patches on tongue, cheek or lips, craving for cold foods, mouth ulcer for more than 3 weeks, Trismus are some of the symptoms which appear in the early stage of mouth cancer which is called pre cancerous condition. This disease develops in the form of Oral submucous fibrosis. These views were expressed by dental surgeon Dr. Mohammed Siraj ur Rahman Civil Surgeon while addressing the patients at a meeting held on the occasion of World Cancer Day, at New Dent Dental Hospital, Chapel Road, Nampally.
Addiction of Gutkha, pan (betel), supari (nut), chaliya (betel nut), saunf (fennel seeds) etc. leads to mouth cancer, he said. Present on the occasion were Mr. Jeevan, Mr. Prasad, Anand, Dr. Nida, Dr. Asiya Siraj, Dr. Ruma and others.
