Hyderabad, September 05: Former minister Jupalli Krishna Rao on Sunday stated that the Telangana state formation was possible only with mounting pressure on the Centre.
Talking to media persons after the meeting of Telangana Congress Steering Committee meeting held at Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao’s residence, Krishna Rao said that the responsibility of mounting pressure on the Congress High Command was more on the Telangana Congress leaders. “More responsibility is lying on the shoulders of Congress leaders to ensure that the Centre makes a clear announcement on formation of Telangana state,” he stated.
Jupalli alleged that the there were no joint efforts by the political leaders to mount pressure on the Centre. Due to lack of unanimity among political leaders, he said, the Centre was not taking the statehood issue seriously and resorting to delaying tactics. He also denied the reports appeared in a section of media attributing the delay in emerging consensus on Telangana to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Jupalli also appealed to Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao not to dampen the spirit of agitation by making controversial and provocative statements that Telangana state not possible until 2014. He appealed to KCR and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee to take all parties into confidence towards to achieve the common goal.
The former minister also called upon all Telangana leaders to extend their full support to general strike of employees starting from September 13.
