Mother-son duo among four Naxals held in AP

Hyderabad, November 11: Four members of the banned CPI (Maoist), including a mother-son duo, were arrested today from Andhra Pradesh’s Warangal and Khammam districts, police said.

Though no arms were seized from their possession, Maoist literature was recovered from them, police said.

Vetti Deva alias Deva, a native of neighbouring Chhattisgarh, was apprehended from Paloncha in Khammam district, Circle Inspector of the area Ravindranath Bandi told PTI by phone.

Deva allegedly worked as a Maoist dalam (group) member from 2006 to 2008 in Kunta area of Chhattisgarh. He was allegedly involved in the killing of three persons who were targeted on suspicion of being police informers, he said.

“On the instruction of Maoists from Chhattisgarh, he (Deva) had migrated to Khammam district to expand the CPI (Maoist) base there,” the police official said.
