Mother beaten by Son

Memphis, January 24: Memphis Police arrested a man for assaulting his own mother and stabbing the family dog.

Officers were called to a home on the 1200-block of Worthington St near South Parkway and Lamar on January 21, 2012. When they arrived, the suspect’s brother met police and told them his brother was armed with a knife and was threatening their mother. When he had tried to protect his mother, the suspect, 25-year-old Westlee Osborne, chased him out of the house. Police then heard a woman scream from inside the house, forced entry, and took Osborne into custody. The mother was transported to the hospital for a cut above her right eye and a dislocated left shoulder.

The family dog was also found stabbed in the neck and nose, and was taken to the emergency animal hospital on Summer Avenue.

Westlee Osborne is charged with Animal Cruelty and two counts of Aggravated Assault. He is being held on $30,000 bond at the Shelby County Jail, and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 15th.
