Bhadrak (Orissa), February 26:A woman and her two daughters were burnt alive and her two other children seriously injured when the house in which they were sleeping caught fire in Orissa’s Bhadrak district, police said here today.
The fire broke out killing Subhadra Das (38) and her daughters Rasmita (10) and Saraswati (six) while Subhadra and her four children were sleeping in their thatched house at Badanga last night, police said.
Two children, identified as Jagabandu and Manik, were battling for their life at the SCB Medical College Hospital with serious burn injuries.
Meanwhile, father of the woman Nabakishore Das had lodged an FIR alleging that her husband Amar Das had hatched a conspiracy to kill Subhadra and her four children.
Amar stays in Kolkata and is married to another woman there, police quoted Nabakishore as having said in the FIR.
Superintendent of Police Jayanarayan Pankaj said a case had been registered against the husband of Subhadra on the basis of the complaint filed by her father.
Inquiry into the incident was on and no arrest had been made in this connection so far, he said.
Post-mortem of the bodies was conducted at the district headquarters hospital here today. PTI
