Mosques targeted hours after Manchester bombing

MANCHESTER:  A mosque is targeted just hours after a deadly bomb attack at Ariana Grande concert in Manchester which killed 22 people and over 115 others injured.

CCTV shows an unidentified white man, wearing a light padded jacket and light trousers walking towards the mosque and setting it on fire at around 2.55am.

The clip show the suspect crouched down to light the flammable substance before running away from the mosque.

According to details shared by the imam of the mosque, Mohammad Saddiq to The Daily Mail, the door of the Jamia Qasmia Zahidia Islamic Centre on Villa Road, Oldham, Greater Manchester, was burnt down very badly.

A passerby witnessed the bright flames and called the fire brigade. Nobody was hurt in the attack.

“Very soon after a member of the public was walking past and called the fire brigade. Thankfully nobody was inside at the time,” he said.

‘There’s a possibility that it’s retaliation to what happened in Manchester last night but we can’t confirm that,’ he added.

Police are looking at CCTV and launched an investigation into the matter.

“No one was injured and enquires are on-going,” a police spokeswoman told The Independent.

Labour MP Debbie Abrahams condemned the suspected arson attack, reported Saddleworth News.

Another mosque’s outside wall in the Gorbals, Glasgow was also attacked in the early hours, with an ISIS graffiti sprayed in a love heart across the wall.
