Tripoli, April 21: Latest reports say a mortar attack has killed at least one journalist and wounded three others in the besieged western Libyan city of Misratah.
The four journalists were hit by mortar fire on Tripoli Street, the main focus of clashes in Misratah, AFP reported
The identity of the dead journalist is being withheld pending notification of relatives. However, sources say the journalists include American and European nationals.
This comes as troops loyal to embattled leader Muammar Gaddafi have increased their attacks on Misratah.
Dozens of civilians have been reported killed over the past week. Many more have been wounded.
The developments also come as more Western countries are joining a plan to send financial and military aid to Libyan opposition forces.
Italy now says that it will send 20 military advisors to Libya to train the revolutionaries. France earlier said it had already sent military advisors to Benghazi. Britain has reported a similar plan.
Meanwhile, the US says it will give the Libyan opposition 25 million dollars in assistance. The aid might include weapons and ammunition.
This comes as the debate over whether to supply the revolutionaries with weapons continues.
Dozens of civilians have been killed in Libya since the Western military alliance launched aerial attacks on the North African country.
NATO has recently admitted to killing revolutionary fighters and civilians in an airstrike in eastern Libya but has refused to apologize for the deadly bombing.
