The mortal remains of Sepoy Shiva Shanker, will be brought to Hyderabad Airport (Shamsabad) on Monday evening by an Air India Flight.
Sepoy Shiva Shanker was among the four Army Soldiers who were killed in an avalanche in Leh district of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday last. The mishap occurred after an avalanche hit their vehicle at Chang La located on the route to Pangong Lake over 100 kilometers from district headquarters. Leh is about 435 kilometers (270 miles) east of Srinagar.
The avalanche hit the vehicle of Army Supply Corps and buried all the five soldiers aboard. During the rescue operation two bodies were recovered while two other soldiers were rescued in severely injured condition, who however succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital, while one soldier is missing.
He is survived by his wife Padma Shankar. His last rites will be performed with military honours on Tuesday in his native village Kamaram of Mahabubnagar district. (INN)
