Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said they knew how to obstruct the Telangana declaration and keep the state united, as they still have more weapons in their arsenal.
Congress MPs Rajagopal, Sai Pratap, Undavalli Arun Kumar, Harsha Kumar and Ananta Venkatarami Reddy submitted their resignations to the Speaker on Friday.
Speaking to the media later, Lagadapati said they had many more weapons to keep the state united and were prepared to anything to prevent bifurcation.
He however admitted that Congress had accepted the bifurcation demand only after all the parties had agreed to it. He reminded that while the TRS demanded Telangana, TDP said concede the demand and YSR Congress had not raised objection. He demanded that the TDP should withdraw the letter given to the union government, supporting Telangana. He blamed the TDP and the YSR Congress for the state bifurcation. He said they would not tolerate the division of ‘Telugu Thalli’. He said they had resigned to stop the state’s division.
Lagadapati maintained that no injustice was done to the Telangana region and claimed that in fact it was to the Seemandhra region that injustice was done. He said Chandra Babu Naidu’s mind was blocked after people took to the streets. Stating that their star batsman was only retired hurt, he said he was not out yet.
Anantapur MP Ananta Venkatarami Reddy alleged that some leaders told lies to the Congress High Command and had not discussed about irrigation water and the capital.
Sai Pratap said they had resigned as they wanted to stand by the people. He alleged that the Congress High Command took the decision to divide the state without consulting leaders of all the three regions.
