More rainfall, flooding expected in US

Newyork, March 11: Most of the mid-Atlantic and northeastern sectors of the United States are expected to experience more rainfall, leading to the continued swelling of rivers into residential areas.

“Even a small additional amount of rainfall could cause water to leave the banks of the rivers and cause minor flooding,” said meteorologist at the US National Weather Service in Massachusetts, Charlie Foley.

The National Weather Service has issued flood advisories from Maryland to New England, while officials have declared a state of emergency in New Jersey,

Another National Weather Service meteorologist from New Jersey, Greg Heavener, says that most of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast are expected to receive at least an inch of rain by Saturday.

Philadelphia, northern Delaware, and central New Jersey are expecting at least three or four inches of rain, the most predicted.

Other forecasts are expecting precipitation to turn to snow in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and southwestern New York by Friday.

Emergency shelters have been ordered to be prepared in areas under alert.
