More rain likely in Coastal Andhra Pradesh region

Visakhapatnam, November 18: The trough of low pressure, formed over Telangana area yesterday, moved towards Tamil Nadu and adjoing Coastal Andhra Pradesh even as strong southerly winds and more active north-east monsoon brought in heavy spell of rain in the region in the early hours of today.

According to Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) here, under its influence rainfall or thunder showers are likely at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, in the sudden heavy rainfall, which lashed the city last night, two school going children were killed. Ch Harsha Chakravarthi (9) and Vamsi (8) fell into a water-filled ten-ft-deep pit, dug to lay the foundation for an apartment complex at Sivajipalem.

The chief amount of rainfall recorded in cm during the last 24 hours were Hunamkonda 11, Bheemunipatnam and Elamanchili four each, Tuni and Visakhapatnam three each and Hyderabad two, the CWC added.
