More than 100 thatched houses and six haystacks were gutted in three different fire accidents in the district today.
Police said more than 60 thatched houses were gutted at Tallapalem village in Ponnuru mandal. as many as 100 families were rendered homeless and property worth Rs seven lakh destroyed in the fire. Hardly the fire was extinguished, another similar fire mishap took place at Mulukuduru village in the same mandal, destroying 40 thatched houses, rendering 50 families homeless. Property worth Rs five lakh destroyed in the accident.
The reasons for the mishaps was yet to ascertained, police said. In yet another fire accident, three thatched houses and six haystacks were reduced to ashes at Chennuvarupalem village. Electric short circuit is said to be the reason for the mishap. The fire brigades struggled a lot to control the fire mishaps. UNI
